Chapter 4 – Ziyuan at Qudu
In the third chapter, after we retrieved the eldest brother’s root from the yellow-browed fellow in Little Western Heaven, we got the clue of another root – Lanxi Village. It happened that the spider spirit in Lanxi Village was getting married at this time, so Bajie and I hid among the gifts and wanted to go and find out what was going on. Unexpectedly, we were discovered at the entrance of the village and had to make a big fuss.
At this time, a mysterious woman appeared in the plot animation and attracted our attention. Then we began our journey to explore the secrets of the village.
Going forward, we saw an archway with a red lantern hanging on it. This is the Lanxi Village we want to explore. This road is full of monsters that have transformed from insects. The more difficult one here is the white insect monster with dual swords (with a faster attack speed).
Along the way, we found that Lanxi Village was full of spider webs, which must have been occupied by spider spirits. Following the guidance of the golden light, we came to the first Buddhist shrine (Zhu Family Courtyard)
We came to the door above and entered the plot, and met the second sister of the spider spirit. We turned into pig monsters and tried to get away with it, but she saw through us. She recognized that our Bajie was the ungrateful man who betrayed her mother that year, but we were confused about this. After that, the second sister started to fight with us. This was also the first plot boss we encountered in this chapter.
After defeating her second sister, she shot a poison needle at Bajie. After being poisoned, Bajie became angry and started chasing the spider spirit.
We followed suit and entered the courtyard to explore. We moved forward and found a big hole deep in the courtyard. We jumped down. (Note that there is an upgrade item “Bioujindan” in front of the drum in front)
Entering the plot, we fell into a spider web, were poisoned and fainted, and were rescued by a mysterious person. When we woke up, we found that we were in a new place “Pansi Cave”. Note that there is a treasure chest behind the place where we woke up, remember to pick it up. We moved forward and opened the first shrine in Pansi Cave (upper level)
The main process route starts from the “upper level” and there is a stairway going up.
Keep going forward until you come to a place covered with insect eggs. Be careful that the goblins in the eggs will break out of their cocoons and attack you. Follow the path with braziers along the way until you come to a platform where you can jump down.
We jump down towards the platform with the brazier, jump to the shrine with a “bug captain” handle, defeat the bug captain, and open a new shrine (Huajian Bridge)
Starting from the Huajian Bridge, there are two forks in the road at the insect egg location. Go to the right one. There are many monsters on the way. Go forward and you will see a ranged monster. We kill him in advance and then go down.
Walk towards the middle steps, where there is a tree and a pavilion, you can meet a strange scorpion prince consort containing spirit. Note that there is a material “Luojia Fragrant Vine” on the tree in the middle of the platform, don’t forget to take it.
There is a staircase behind the house on the right side of the tree. Continue in this direction.
You can get the wine “Wuyoujiu” in the house after passing the wooden bridge. You can also meet the mysterious woman you met at the beginning of the chapter at the pagoda on the right. Then keep walking forward from the house. The insect eggs you encounter on the road will explode into fairies similar to silkworms.
After defeating the insect monster on the road, walk forward and jump down. The new Buddhist shrine is on the left (middle level). There is a cushion on the right where you can sit.
Starting from the “middle level”, there is a treasure chest on the left and the road we want to take is on the right. Jump down and there is another pile of insect eggs. Keep walking forward and you will see a large scene and a hill made of skulls in front of you. Go over to trigger the battle with the boss “Centipede”. It looks like a large watermelon worm. It is not difficult and is relatively easy to beat.
After defeating the centipede, you will see a cave with a torch on it. Walk in that direction and follow the route with fire. There are some silkworm monsters on the road. Keep going forward and you will come to a new shrine (Juexiang Cliff).
In the narrow corridor in front of Juexiang Cliff, you will encounter the boss “Right Hand Worm”. This monster has two forms, and the difficulty is increased because the Destiny Man has to fight in a narrow space. After defeating it, you will obtain the main item “Bone Mirror”. The mysterious woman appears again and uses the corpse of the Right Hand Worm to pave a path for us.
Walk along the corpse of the worm on the right, jump down and turn right and continue walking down
Come to an intersection with roads on both sides. Walk to the right, then go down. At the end of the road, look to the right and there is a small passage. Walk through it to trigger the plot.
We discovered that our second brother had been captured by the spider spirits and given to their mother to enter the bridal chamber.
After watching the plot, continue on the road and keep walking down. There are spider webs everywhere on the way. You must have reached the depths of Pansi Cave. The road here is relatively simple. You just need to follow the route with the brazier. Pay attention that there are many insect monsters under the ravine. Don’t be surrounded.
Go forward and you will see many hanging cocoons. Keep going forward and you will find the next shrine (bottom floor).
After taking a rest at the bottom level, continue walking along the road. You will meet a bug captain. After defeating him, continue walking along the road from the doorway and you will find a new Buddhist shrine (Ruoxian Temple).
The small courtyard next to Ruoxian Temple is the Bajie we are looking for. After entering and starting the animation, we find that Bajie has been bewitched by the spider spirits and has started to attack us indiscriminately. Bajie at this stage is easier to beat. After defeating him, he will escape and we need to continue chasing him.
Chase him in the direction he fled, and when you reach a crack in the rock and crawl into it, walk a little further to trigger the second battle with Bajie.
This battle is much more difficult than the first one. Bajie will have two stages and is a more difficult boss in this chapter.
After defeating Bajie, the previously obtained bone mirror restored his consciousness, and then we can obtain the new key item “Bloodstained Golden Needle”. Unfortunately, the second brother was captured by the spider spirit again as soon as he woke up.
There is no choice, we have to rescue him again, follow the instructions to come to the shrine (Zhuo Guquan)
After a short rest, we continued walking along the route going up. There were scorpion monsters along the way that were quite difficult to deal with.
Then we came to the new shrine (Magnetic Cave), and in front of us was the location of Zi Zhuer, the mother of the BOSS Spider Spirit.
Purple Spider is one of the most difficult bosses to fight, and will use spider webs and venom to attack.
After defeating Zi Zhu’er, we learned that one of the master’s roots was in her. Bajie asked us to chase her quickly.
A large number of small spiders will swarm around, and we keep running along the route taken by the small spiders (note that the small spiders can also cause damage), and then we arrive at a new place, Huanghua Temple, where we can open the first Buddhist shrine (mountain path) of Huanghua Temple.
Start from the mountain path and just keep going up the mountain. Most of the enemies in Huanghua Temple are Taoists. Note the location where you first encounter the long-necked tiger-headed monster. At this time, we need to walk to the right rear of the picture below (the road with a masked Taoist and a yellow-robed Taoist), there is a small path.
Keep walking along the road. Be careful of the monsters with long necks and tiger heads. They are difficult to beat because of their thick health. There is a cave above. Go inside. There is a narrow wooden bridge on the road. In front is the new Buddhist shrine (Tiger Snake Insect Forest).
Starting from the Tiger Snake Insect Forest, there is a meditation cushion on the left. We move forward and encounter a snake demon carrying a poison jar on the way.
If you go up the path that the snake demon passed, you will see the elite monster “Insect General” who is training his troops. You can obtain spirit after defeating him.
Then walk up and you can see a Taoist temple with a new Buddhist shrine in front of it (Guanmen).
We entered the temple and climbed up the stairs to a courtyard-like location. There was another gate directly in front of us, but this time we had to walk to the left of the road we had just entered.
Go up all the way to the end of the road. There are gates on both sides. We go to the left door with two Taoist priests guarding the gate.
After entering, you can see a new Buddhist shrine (Jinguanyuan). The final boss of this chapter, the Hundred-Eyed Demon Lord, is on the right side of the shrine.
Turning right, we enter the plot and discover that the Hundred-Eyed Demon Lord is Zi Zhu’er’s senior brother, and it was he who designed to lure the Man of Destiny here, wanting to devour the other roots of the Man of Destiny, and then be able to get rid of Kunlun’s control.
Next is the final boss battle of this chapter. The Hundred-Eyed Demon Lord has three stages and is extremely powerful, but the “Embroidery Needle” obtained in Ziyun Temple earlier can come in handy here. It can restrain the boss in the third stage. Players may wish to use it when strategizing to reduce the difficulty.
After defeating the Hundred-Eyed Demon Lord, the spider spirits were also safe. After both sides resolved their misunderstandings, we obtained another root ability of the eldest brother – the tongue-tasting thinking. This marks the end of Chapter 4.
