Character Guide for Baldur’s Gate 3 (Part 2)

Human

Generalist: Gain 1 additional proficiency option and increase carrying capacity by 25%.

Proficiency: short spear, long spear, halberd, hilt sword, light armor, shield.

Humans don’t have subspecies (well, biology says that too, lol)

Evaluation recommendation

Humans seem to be the biggest victims of the cancellation of racial value bonuses, after all, all attribute +1 has been cancelled.

But in fact, all +1 is not as good as it seems. People like me who like to lead the team think it is good, and the human panacea remains the same.

The increase in carrying weight is also useful for players who do not modify the game, so you don’t have to pay attention to backpack management so frequently.

Taking proficiency into consideration, various melee professions have relatively higher returns, but don’t worry too much about it, as they are a panacea.

Githyanki

Astral Knowledge: Choose an attribute and gain proficiency in all skills corresponding to that attribute. Note that this lasts forever and can be reselected after a long rest.

Psionics: A few 0-level cantrips that are more combat-oriented.

Proficiency: Light armor, medium armor, short sword, long sword, great sword.

There are no subspecies of Githyanki (I don’t know, the biology book didn’t mention it this time, lol)

Gain the Hand of the Mage at level 1.

Gain the ability to jump at level 3.

Gain Phantom Step at level 5.

Evaluation recommendation

If you also want a leader, but your requirements are not high, just be okay, and don’t want to think too much (or just be okay, haha), then the Githyanki provide you with the answer. He can handle any check you require (especially suitable for medium and low difficulty games).

Psionics can be really useful in allowing the Githyanki to have more options in combat, as well as allowing for some usable ranged options in melee combat.

Basically, all melee professions can be competent, although the proficiency items are often wasted, but if you want to deal with a monk who takes a different approach with swordsmanship, a maverick warlock, or a part-time job, he will have good proficiency bonuses. You will be able to do this once you are familiar enough with the game.

Dwarf

Speed: 7.5 meters per round, lower than the usual speed of 9 meters.

Proficiency: Battleaxe, Handaxe, Light Mace, Warhammer.

Dark Vision: Can see 12 meters in darkness , corresponding to which the movement range in one round is generally 9 meters.

Dwarven physique: Advantage on saving throws against poison, resistance to poison damage.

Subspecies: Gold Dwarf

Maximum health +1, plus 1 each time you upgrade.

Subspecies: Shield Dwarf

Gain proficiency with light armor and medium armor.

Subspecies: Shield Dwarf

Gain proficiency with light armor and medium armor.

Evaluation recommendation

Dwarves have weaker mobility, so they either take long-range routes or act as tanks to block the enemy.

Undoubtedly, as a tank bonus, the Golden Dwarf is the most practical, and the Shield Dwarf can bring armor proficiency to many ranged characters. It is a good choice when you are prepared to rely on armor to protect wanderers and mages (you can add the attribute investment in agility or constitution to other places).

The gray dwarf is a slower drow.
